Old But Gold

We aim to show gamers that there's always something great to play. These titles are some of our personal favorites; and are bound to have you locked in for hours.

There's a good chance you've heard of Morrowind. Like its predecessors, Arena and Daggerfall, Morrowind is a vast world that changed role-playing games forever. Morrowind is an open ended game that lets you explore a new 3D world in pretty much any way or direction you want.

A majority of the gaming community would agree that the Elder Scrolls has always been one of the great franchises. Between the freedom to explore and the wide variety of races and Skills to choose from, you might even feel immersed as soon as the first cut scene opens. You're a prisoner on a creaky ship that has been set free in a strange new land with nothing except the clothes on the protagonist’s back.

Morrowind definitely shows its age, yet it is still considered by many to be one of the best RPGs of all time. Obviously, there are limitations that do affect the modern player, like choppy graphics and chance to hit; it's like rolling a dice. But if you can look past those inconveniences, you will ultimately find pleasure in this cohesive and unique world.

Morrowind is a dense and interesting land, eerie and alien compared to the other provinces of Tamriel. The factions are unique, and the internal conflict between them runs deep.

My conclusion is that the amazing people over at Bethesda really outdid themselves by taking a huge leap into the 3D world with a set of expectations that are still alive and well today in games like Fallout 4 and The Witcher. If you love stories as much as I do, then Morrowind is a must-play.

First up…

Next we have…

Inspired by the Super Smash series, Brawlhalla has brought an innovative twist to the competitive fight scene.

Play characters you know and love from your favorite TV shows like The Walking Dead, Adventure Time, or the WWE.

This is a great party game for up to eight of your friends. The selection of game modes will have you hooked and craving more game after game. From Crew Battle to Bombsketball, Temple Climb to Bubble Tag, there’s a place on the battlefield for anyone.

Smash may have perfected the brawler formula introduced on the N64, but Brawlhalla is a force to be reckoned with. Each character will start with their own kit consisting of two type-based weapons; the variety of weapons makes it so anyone can find their groove.

If you're feeling competitive, there's a ranked system with skill-based progression, so whether you're alone or with a friend, Brawlhalla offers three lives each, one vs one and two vs two arena battles.

If you have what it takes, climb to the top, test your skill, and prove your worth in battle.

And finally…

A multiplayer online battle arena without being forced to use a click-to-move mechanic? Sign me up.

Smite is a highly team-oriented game consisting of various tower defense game modes. The most popular is conquest, two teams of five on a three-lane map that requires everyone to be on the same page.

If you want to take a more direct approach, Joust is for you. Joust is a one-lane map, a three vs three battle; you and your team must always work together to achieve victory. What if you are a solo player and don't want to rely on a team to win the game? There is a one-lane, one vs one duel mode. Get competitive and queue up into ranked matchmaking, where you will fight players of similar skill, so bring your A-game and don't hold back.

Smite uses an in-game command system called a voice-guided system (aka VGS). This uses the voice of your character with a few quick button presses that can let everyone on your team know exactly what you are doing without the hassle of typing it all out or plugging in a Mic, simplistic efficiency.

Smite currently has over one hundred playable characters, which makes it easy for anyone to find their perfect play style eventually. Every character has unique skill sets, so there is no limit to what can be achieved.
